5/30/2024: Trump is Convicted in the Hush Money Case

OMG!! After weeks of trial, today the jury finally reached the verdict and Donald Trump is found guilty of all 34 charges. He is the first former president to be convicted of a crime. He is also the de facto Republican nominee of the 2024 Presidential Election. The 34 charges, which are mostly falsification of invoices and business records with total payments amounting to $130K, are low grade crimes that don’t necessarily warrant a jail sentence but there are 34 of them. Donald Trump is also 77 years old. It’s unclear how the sentencing is going to work. Things can get even more complicated if he does get elected in November. (I won’t be surprised if he does. In fact, my current prediction is he will win.) Will he go to jail while being the president of the United States of America? (He can’t pardon himself because falsifying business records is a state crime not a federal crime.) I have so many questions.
