Over the weekend, there was a military insurrection in Russia but it was quickly resolved within 24 hours. It happened so quickly that I didn’t even have time to make a post before the coup abruptly ended. The Chief of the private military company Wagner Group announced the resurrection in a telegram message on Saturday which said “Our men die because you treat them like meat…no ammo, no plans”. The group was marching to Moscow and it appeared that some kind of civil war was happening in Russia.
But within 24 hours, the president of Belarus helped broker a de-escalation agreement and the Wagner Group chief said that his forces were turning around after they had come within 200 kilometers of Moscow. Russia will drop criminal charges against the group chief and he will "go to Belarus".
The whole thing felt so odd and I am pretty sure there are some gory details that are not disclosed to the public. Does what happened over the weekend signal the end or the beginning of the end of Putin and the war? I hope that is the case. People are tired of the Russian-Ukrainian war which is causing so much endless suffering.
