I recently replaced an old gas stove with an induction range. It’s great! For me, the upsides are definitely higher than the downsides of an occasional power outage. I have a propane grill to fall back on if the need ever arises.

stove was ok. but the electric water heaters are still not very good. they cost a lot more to heat water than natural gas. But I think PG&E is going to raise natural gas prices to crazy levels to force people to switch to electric. I think the main issue is the backup. If electricity is unreliable and if the outage is prolonged, the lack of alternative can result in severe energy insecurity. Politicians shouldn't force people to adopt 100% electric if they cannot fix PG&E. If PG&E can ensure certain SLA, I am all for electrification.
